Severe Weather Conditions - School Closure

Due to the potential for hazardous weather conditions, all St. James Parish Schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, April 10, 2024. According to the National Weather Service and the St. James Department of Emergency Preparedness, St. James Parish has an enhanced risk of high wind gusts, tornadoes, hail, and flash flooding. The closing of schools is never an easy decision, but as always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Please continue to monitor the district website and social media channels for updates.

ACT Testing Wednesday, March 13

ACT Testing will take place on Wednesday, March 13. ​ All 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students including virtual students, will report to their homebase schools for testing. All 9th grade students and non-registered 12th grade students will remin at home for a virtual day of learning.

Vacherie Elementary Delayed Start

Vacherie Elementary is experiencing a power outage due to an accident in the area; because of this, Vacherie Elementary will have a delayed start of school. School will begin at 10:00 am. Students may arrive at 9:30 am. Buses will start to pick up students at 9:00 am. The safety of students is most important. Please follow all district communication plans for updates.

Water
Boil Water Update-West Bank
02/20/2024
Due to the St. James Parish boil water advisory on the west bank, tomorrow, February 21, all west bank schools will have bottled water on hand for students to drink and water available for cafeteria workers to prepare food for students. We anticipate the restoration of usable water during the school day tomorrow.

Early Dismissal
Early Release Schedule

The safety of all employees and students is important to us. Inclement weather may cause unsafe road conditions for our buses and employees. Therefore, on Monday, January 8, 2024 all SJP Schools will operate under an early release schedule, and all after school activities are canceled.

SJP Schools Approved One-Time Supplemental Pay

St. James Parish School System recognizes the pivotal role that educators play in shaping the minds of the future. In a bold move to invest in the ongoing growth and efficiency of its staff, the SJP School Board has approved a one-time stipend for employee professional development. In collaboration with Shell Inc., St. James Parish School District full-time employees will receive a one-time payment of $600 pending completion of online professional development.

District SPS Scores Released

St. James Parish Schools’ 2023 District Performance Score (DPS) increased by 6.0 points, growing from 79.1 to 85.1. St. James Parish Schools earned a letter grade of “B” and ranks “Top 3 Most Improved School Systems” in the state of Louisiana.

Transportation Refresh: bus

St. James Parish Schools are refreshing transportation records for the 2024-2025 school year. Current bus routes will NOT be carried over into next school year.
All new and returning students, car and bus riders need to complete the google form at Transportation Refresh.
