St. James Parish School Board Selects
Chris Kimball as the Next Superintendent
On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, the St. James Parish School Board voted for Chris M. Kimball as the district’s new superintendent. Kimball replaces Kelly Cook, who has been serving as interim superintendent since February 2022 following the retirement of Dr. P. Edward Canciennce.
Mr. Kimball currently serves as the Executive Director of Secondary Schools in the St. Charles Parish School District where he has worked since 2019. Before that, he held multiple administrative and leadership roles in the Lafourche Parish School District. A few of his job duties included Director of Middle/Secondary Education, Director of Instructional Technology, and Director of Career/Technical Education. Chris Kimball is a member of the American Association of School Administrators, the Louisiana Association of School Executives, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Louisiana Association of Principals.
Mr. Kimball is a 2001 graduate of Nicholls State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health & Physical Education. He subsequently obtained a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in June 2009 from Nicholls State University.
Mr. Kimball has a total of 13 years of administrative experience and 8 years of teaching experience. He brings extensive experience in supporting and leading district staff members, principals, teachers, and community stakeholders for students to have an opportunity to achieve at their highest levels.
