St. James Parish School System recognizes the pivotal role that educators play in shaping the minds of the future. In a bold move to invest in the ongoing growth and efficiency of its staff, the SJP School Board has approved a one-time stipend for employee professional development. In collaboration with Shell Inc., St. James Parish School District full-time employees will receive a one-time payment of $600 pending completion of online professional development.

St. James Parish Schools’ 2023 District Performance Score (DPS) increased by 6.0 points, growing from 79.1 to 85.1. St. James Parish Schools earned a letter grade of “B” and ranks “Top 3 Most Improved School Systems” in the state of Louisiana.

The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) released school and district performance scores today for schools. We are thrilled to extend heartfelt congratulations to Lutcher High School on becoming an “A” school.

SJP Schools invites you to its Fall Showcase featuring Talented Theatre students, Talented Art students, and Academically Gifted students from all school sites across the District on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Lutcher High School.

River Region Chamber of Commerce hosted a Tri-Parish Superintendent’s Forum this morning for the river parish school superintendents. The forum allowed business and industry leaders to hear status updates from the tri-parish superintendents on school visions and goals for their school

If you are in an area where visibility is unsafe, please wait until driving conditions are safe. There will be possible delays in bus routes and student car riders. However, any student arriving at school after the morning bell will be excused.

St. James Parish Public School System is in the process of developing the 2024-2025 school year calendar, and we would like your input. We are asking you to complete the Google survey (please see link below) that will give us some insight of your preferences when creating the calendar. Please keep in mind that school calendars must reflect a minimum of 177 instructional days per school year. Thank you for sending your feedback on or before October 30, 2023.

National School Bus Safety Week is October 16 – 20, 2023. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) urges drivers to slow down and be aware of school zones in the area.

Tomorrow at 7:00 AM, there will be an emergency planned outage that will affect Gramercy Elementary School and Lutcher High School. Entergy plans to have power restored in 30 minutes. Both Lutcher High and Gramercy Elementary will receive students at their normal take-in time. Thanks for your continued patience and support.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. It is a great time to encourage students to act with kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. On October 18, 2023, we’re asking all students and staff to wear orange in “UNITY” against bullying.

October is Child Search Awareness month in Louisiana. Child Search is a program in every school system to ensure that any child who is eligible for Special Educational Services receives them
